Béatrice Cousin

Phd DR CNRS

Béatrice Cousin (PhD, HDR) is Research Director at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). She has a long expertise in the field of adipose tissue (AT) physiology and cell biology, and was among the first to demonstrate the presence in AT of a large immune population and its changes with metabolic disease. Her research led to pivotal breakthroughs in the understanding of extramedullar hematopoiesis and the identification and behaviour of hematopoietic stem cells in the AT. She recently contributed to the identification and characterization of different macrophage populations in the AT, and demonstrated their role in tissue repair.
