GUIDED SELF-ORGANIZATION OF TISSUE FOR INNOVATIVE THERAPEUTICS
A multidisciplinary approach to study tissue degeneration and regeneration processes in adult mammals and during aging
Set up Advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP) for regenerative and rejuvenating strategies
Research
Organs/tissues are ecosystems resulting from a dynamic coordination between the parenchymal compartment (specific element of each organ in relation to its function) and the mesenchymal compartment (transversal element providing the most appropriate support and environment for any organ). This latter plays a fundamental role in tissue architecture which supports optimal organ functions. GOT-IT focuses its research on this architecture, the associated mechanical constraints, and at the cellular level studies mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSC) as an orchestrator and key indicator of tissue homeostasis and as a strategic target for tissue regeneration.
This multidisciplinary group proposes an original and holistic approach from the creation of numerical and micro-physiological models to the setting up of clinical trials. To do so, the team relies on state-of-the-art technologies such as artificial intelligence but also mechanobiology (AFM), microscopy (biphotonics and light sheet microscopy, spectral analysis, …etc), 3D tissue engineering. Moreover, GOT-IT members have set up the unique ISO standards French academic platform for quality control of MSCs as well as the unique European academic platform labelled for bio-distribution and biosafety studies of Advanced Therapeutical Médicinal Products (ATMP) within national infrastructure ECellFrance.
Our team has also played a key role in the development and structuring of the INSPIRE scientific project, which aims to better understand human functional decline and to propose rejuvenative therapies to prevent elderly dependency.
The team remains a leader through its strong involvement in innovative biotherapies and bioproduction systems, in research, in R&D, in the development of an economic sector in the Occitanie region and in training systems for associated professions.
